Game Explanation
Overview
The game is divided into three sections: the autonomous period, the driver control period, and the end game. During the autonomous period, robots must complete tasks running only on pre-programmed code. During the driver control period, two drivers manually control the robot with game joysticks to score the most balls they can. Lastly, during the end game, drivers have the choice to complete bonus objectives for major points, or continue to keep on scoring balls.
Autonomous Period
The autonomous lasts 30 seconds. In this year's game, we can shoot one or two balls into the center vortex for 15 points or into the corner vortex for five points. Teams can claim beacons in their own color, which gives 30 points for each beacon with their color as well as an extra ball for the driver controlled period. By knocking the cap ball off of the center board, teams receive five points. Teams receive points for parking their robot on the center board or corner vortex, receiving 10 points for fully parking and five points for partially parking.
Drive Control Period
During the driver control period, teams can score particles in the corner and center vortex as well as claim beacons. Teams receive 10 points for every beacon illuminated with their team color at the end of the game. Teams earn five points for every particle scored in the center vortex and one point for every particle scored in the corner vortex.
end game
During the end game, teams can raise the cap ball. Teams receive 10 points for the low height, 20 points for the high height, and 40 points for capping the ball on the center vortex.
