Game explanation
overview
The game is divided into three sections: the autonomous period, the driver control period, and the end game. During the autonomous period, robots must complete tasks running only on pre-programmed code. During the driver control period, two drivers manually control the robot with game joysticks to score the most blocks they can. Lastly, during the end game, drivers have the choice to complete bonus objectives for major points, or continue to keep on scoring blocks.
autonomous period
The autonomous period lasts exactly 30 seconds. If the block is placed in the crate randomly designated beforehand with the IR beacon, the team gets 40 points. If the block is place in a crate not designated with the IR beacon, the team gains 20 points. If the block is placed on the floor goal below the pendulum, the team gains five points. If the robot is partially on the ramp, the team gets 10 points. If the robot is fully on, the team gains 20 points.
driver control period
The driver control period lasts two minutes, with 30 seconds overlapping the end game. For each block placed on the floor goal under the pendulum, the team gets one point. For each block placed in the inner crates, that team gets two points. For each block placed in the outer crates, the team gets three points.
end game
The end game constitutes the last 30 seconds of the match. Teams can choose to complete end game objectives, or keep on scoring blocks as in the driver control period. If a team raises their corner flag in the low position, they get 20 points. if a team raises the flag to the high position, they get 35 points. If a team hangs their robot on the metal bar in the middle of the field, they get 50 points. At the end of the game, if a referee says that a pendulum is balanced, that team gets a bonus of 50 percent of their block score.
