Game Explanation
Overview
The game is divided into three sections: the autonomous period, the driver control period, and the end game. During the autonomous period, robots must complete tasks running only on pre-programmed code. During the driver control period, two drivers manually control the robot with game joysticks to score the most balls they can. Lastly, during the end game, drivers have the choice to complete bonus objectives for major points, or continue to keep on scoring balls.
AUTONOMOUS pERIOD
The autonomous period lasts 30 seconds. If a robot is able to drive off the ramp to the playing floor, that team receives 20 points. If a robot knocks down their kickstand, they earn 30 points for their team. If an autonomous ball is placed in a rolling goal, it scores 30 points per goal. If a team places an autonomous ball in the center goal, that team receives 60 points. If a robot is able to move a rolling goal into the parking zone, it scores 20 points per goal.
Driver control period
The driver control period lasts two minutes, with 30 seconds overlapping the end game. Robots try to score as many balls into the 30 cm, 60 cm, or 90 cm rolling goals. The 30 cm goal is worth one point per centimeter. The 60 cm goal is worth two points per centimeter. The 90 centimeter goal is worth three points per centimeter. Robots can also move rolling goals up their ramp or to their respective parking goals to score the end game objective points.
end game
The end game constitutes the last 30 seconds of a match. In the end game, robots can try to achieve end game objectives or continue to score balls into rolling goals. If the robot or any rolling goal is completely on the ramp at the end of the game, it scores 30 points per item. If a robot or any rolling goal is in the parking zone at the end of the game, it scores 10 points per item. If a ball is scored in the center goal, it is worth six points per centimeter.
